Yet another carbon monoxide death - why is this happening with bbqs etc OUTSIDE tents?

I am going camping 2 times in the next few months and this makes me so nervous. Last summer I insisted we open all the doors for 2 hours in the evening to make sure everything was ventilated even though we use our gas stove 4 metres or so from the tent. Is this enough? It really worries me that I am putting us all in danger and I can't relax properly. Can you get a monitor to use in a tent? How can you be sure it works ok?

yes, take a normal CO monitor. We got a new one for home recently and it's free standing so we'll just take it with us.

Just awful. Don't really have any words for it.

Who said the BBQ was outside the tent?

If you place a BBQ inside your tent and then move it outside later, it can still kill you.

I don't believe the BBQ was outside the tent all the time. Maybe it was moved by the police or the family.
