I posted a while ago about this - we are emigrating and it is breaking my heart to leave our beautiful tent and accessories, but it's not really sensible to ship it over there or to store it until we get back. :(

Do you think it would be best to just put everything separately on Ebay or campsite.co.uk, or might people want the whole kit together? What about pretty lams and stuff?

So sad. :(

Do you know which area you are going to be living in yet? Have you got dc's?

Is it you or your husband who will be working?

I was a SAHM and made the most wonderful friends from all walks of life, and never run out of anything to do.

I joined the AAM (American Association of Malaysia), dd went to playgroup there whilst I sauntered off to the gym. It is truly relaxing living there, and the food, ohhh the food. The holidays. Perth is 5 hours away, Singapore a 4hr drive, idyllic islands an hour by plane.

I hope you are taking your computer! Can't wait to hear all about it.

We're not sure where we'll be living yet - have a month's serviced apartment before we need to decide. I'll be working, DH SAHD. We have a baby and a toddler. Any thoughts on things to take (other than then tent?!!)

Ahh that's nice. We stayed in the Ampang area when we were there.

All in one swimsuits, plus those swim hats with a peak and a flap which covers the back of the neck

Factor 50 sunblock

I was sad and took decaf coffee and cheap beans

You can get branded goods from the UK there but they are expensive, so if there is anything your kids particularly like take it, just to settle them in with

I can recommend (hope this is allowed MN) a Doctor, if he is still practicing there - Dr Vernon Lee, he's paediatrician and a true gent based at Gleneagles hospital

The kids will have to have follow up jabs, so you will need your red/blue baby book

I went there in November so did my Christmas shopping before I went but you can get most things there. They have ToysRUs and Ikea, plus other toy shops or and M&S.

There is a fantastic French product, sold in the big department stores (baby dept) called Mustela, and they do a very good mosquito repellent for children and babies

I'm trying to think of anything else, we didn't have to pay for our removals, and so I took a fair few nick-nacks to make it homely. I took things like food steamer and cookpots but rarely used them as we ate out most days.

DVD's for the kids might be an idea, and I think you need a certain sort of tv to work over there but can't remember what

I'll add as I think of things!

If you want a taxi fast, bribe them!

If you are in the right part of town, this is the supermarket where you can buy most things, even ham! You do have to go to a non muslim counter though. In fact, sod it, even in you aren't you must go.

Loopy - when are you off? Have you been there before?

How very very exciting :)

You have to go to Langkawi - hire a couple of mopeds and just drive around, it's lovely :)

And many thanks Grenouille, that's really useful info. The sun/mozzie/baby combo is scaring me a bit.

Just wrote a reply and MN went offline!

Take rugs if you have them, floors may be hard for little ones to play on

Visit doc here before you go and see he will let you have anti-histamines and maybe anti-biotics just in case. My two had ear infections and prickly heat upon arrival.

Can't remember what else I was wittering on about now Smile
