Question about groundsheets

We have recently bought a Soulpad with a zippable groundsheet. Our neighbour has said that a lot of campsites don't allow groundsheets as they ruin the grass and you have to have special eco ones that are breatheable. I've been checking the t&cs of some sites we like the look of, but there's no mention of this anywhere. Has anyone come across this rule? This is our first tent, so we're a bit confused!

I have never come across this. Where in the country are you thinking off?

On some sites i have had to wait to pitch, so that the owner ok's that the land has had enough time to air, from when last pitched on. They try to rotate the use of the fields.

Just to add, my main tents now have sewn in groundsheets, as do most that i have seen. We go weekly during the season.

Sorry to go on but i have just googled this and there seems to be some sites that prefer these, in Yorkshire and Norfolk, but state this on their homepage.

Also apparently forest areas benefit from these.

Thanks, Birdsgottafly. I'm in North Devon, and we're just looking at very local sites to start with. I have seen some that say they need to let some areas rest, so can't guarantee pitches, but was a bit worried that we won't be able to use our tent at all on some of them.
