Anyone been to Sonisphere with kids?

Posted this in Chat - then remembered we have a camping topic (please forgive my oversight... I've actually never been camping before Wink).

Anyway, dh and I are looking to book tickets to the Sonisphere festival this year (KISS and Queen are playing and it will be our third time seeing both bands! Grin) and while dh has been camping before when he was a child, I haven't. We aren't new to festivals, having been to Monsters of Rock (2006) and Download (2008) but we are very new to the festival + camping + toddler combination.

Has anyone here been to Sonisphere? How child friendly is it? We will be staying in the family campsite if it makes a difference.

And... what are the essentials to take/or not to take?

Pop in and say hi. I can hear the whole lot from my house Confused
It's not far from the main town and tesco and asda are a short drive away, sadly walking isn't a good idea with kids as its across the motorway.
All I know is it's very busy and music goes on very very late

Do they let toddlers in? I know children under 5 are not allowed at Download and absolutely no buggies are allowed at all.....

Sorry, I assume you have checked out the age limit, but sometimes it's not clear. Download sell kids tickets but only in the small print online does it say about the age restriction.

Hope you have a good time anyway though!

I didn't see anything about an age limit except that under 12s must be accompanied by an adult. It would make sense not to allow toddlers though. I'm still undecided about whether to go or not.

Lisad123 Envy Wink if only I lived as close to it as you do!

Hasn't sonisphere been cancelled? Friend of mine was due to go but apparently queen put out a press release on their website about the cancellation.

nenevomito · 31/03/2012 11:14

I was just going to post the same thing - cancelled.

UnChartered · 31/03/2012 11:15

erm..you do know Sonisphere is no longer on, don't you?

from the official website Sad

Sonisphere isn't happening. It wouldn't have been a great one for toddlers anyway, tbh.

therewasatime · 31/03/2012 11:18

Sonisphere is cancelled, but these sorts of festivals are totally unsuited to small children, and I say that as someone who goes to all sorts of festivals and takes the DCs everywhere (usually).

I wouldnt dream of taking them to something like Sonisphere or Download.

For a cheap but brilliant weekend for the kids try Tribfest, the tickets can usually be bought on ebay for half the price on the website, as the band are paid in tickets.

therewasatime · 31/03/2012 11:20

tribfest I am nothing to do with the Festival btw, I just found it a very good, family friendly, cheap inroduction to festivals with small children.
