We stayed at Protors Stead campsite in Craster a few years ago, which is quite close, and was lovely. Its got a lovely beach very close, Craster is a sweet little fishing port which makes traditional kippers. Dunstanburgh castle is a short walk round the coast, Alnmouth is another lovely village with good beach in the other direction.

I think there are a couple of sites closer to Alnwick, one's a camping and caravanning club one, the other's a caravan club site, but I haven't stayed at either. Alnwick is a nice town with lots to do, hope you have a good time.

I agree Alnwick is lovely - but we camped a few years ago at October half term up at Bamburgh at Waren Caravan & camping site - easy access into Bamburgh and along the coast to Lindisfarne but about 1/2 hr to Alnwick - not sure whether that's too far for you?
They had Harry Potter lookalikes there roaming round the grounds giving talks when we went to the Castle & the Deadly Garden was really interesting too.

Quite a good site in Alnwick itself, at the rugby club very central- visit www.visitalnwick.org for more details. Other local info on www.alnmouthvillage.org

There's a pool/sports centre just opposite the rugby club, and possibly a sainsbury's. It's just about walking distance into town too.

We've stayed here which isn't that far south of Alnwick. Make sure you pop in for a gin cuppa on your way past!
