Hi
We are hoping to go to this region end June/July and are wondering if anyone has any recommendations. We are new to camping but I really like the idea of it with a 1 and 4 year old. We will do a caravan and have considered the following.
La Carabasse
Serignan Plage
Club farret
La Chappelle

Ideally we are looking for beside beach, nice on site bar/restaurant and decent playground.
Thanks for your help

I would recommend Serignan Plage. Loads for kids that age to do and lovely beach and pools. We went in September when our girls were 1 & 4 and it was busy enough without being packed with a good mix of nationalities.

Is La Chapelle the one in Argeles? If so, we stayed there last August for 10 days. We were in our tent so I cannot comment on the accommodation; however, the site was very pleasant. It's about a 10 minute walk to the beach (five to the beach and then another five or so to find a nice spot!). The pools onsite were pretty good, with good facilities for the non swimmers too (a small baby pool plus a shallow section of the main pool). The playground was quite small - we only went there as it was the one place on site that you could get a wifi connection! The beaches were lovely, although they slope down meaning that in the afternoon they sloped away from the sun. There was a shop on site, which sold things like roast chickens, chips, pizzas as well as bakery and patisserie, but I don't recall a restaurant (if there was, we didn't use it!) but there are loads of restaurants within a five minute walk.

I've stayed at Serignan Plage in May, August and September. I love the site it has everything you need and is quite safe. In August it is quite busy and, obviously, hot and can be noisy in the evening. We stayed in their on-site mobile homes and took our tent. In the tent it did get noisy even late at night but we weren't bothered in the mobile home, so assume you probably have less issues with a caravan. The swimming pool is great and you can walk to the very safe sea. There is a nudist beach/site adjoining this one so you can see some sights at the beach Grin. I would definitely recommend it.

I've have been to La Carabasse and loved it but I think it is better for older children/teenagers. Club Farret gets good reviews and is right on the beach. Vias is nice and a visit to Luna Park is a must.

La Carabasse has a huge kids club if you want the option to get involved in those type of things with your toddlers. It is a very "green" site, lots of plants & foliage, and you can drive to the beach of walk through a vineyard out the back of the campsite (toddlers may need carrying or a big wheeled buggy though as quite a walk for little legs, but very pleasant.

There is an on site restaurant, but we always walk 5 minutes up the road to where there are lots of very good cheap restaurants in Vias Plage, which is also full of the usual seaside gift shops etc.

We have stayed there 3 times over the years as we like the area - lots of places to visit from here, and the sea is very safe. The beach is busy if you go through vias, but if you go from the back of the campsite it is much quieter and Siblu have a "beach club" bar on the beach there too - with a happy hour (or two) every afternoon which DH rather enjoyed :)
