We will be purchasing our much wanted bell tent shortly but we have started to wobble a bit re size. Initially we decided to go for the 5m but we have started to worry that this might restrict us a bit as to where we can camp due to the size of the footprint.

Does anyone have any information about this? Do sites generally have an issue with the 5m tents?

Just for info, there's myself, DH, DS (2) and another DC on the way....

Thanks! Smile

Go for the biggest one you can afford . A 5m bell tent is def not as huge as what some people arrive with ! It will only be commented on because it is so gorgeous - not it's size . Campsite s are really relaxed places

Im VERY jealous- i want one too.

Go for a 5m. The 4m is good, but I wish we'd gone for the 5m instead.

Get a 5m - we did and there's only 3 of us, but the extra space is brilliant - so far we haven't found a campsite that had a problem with us. A lot of tunnel tents take up the same width, regarding depth you may find on some sites with pre-marked pitches that the car has to be very close to the tent as the pitches are long but narrow (if that makes sense) but we've only come across one of them so far in the last 2 years...

5m. It's definitely not huge in comparison to many, many other family tents.
