Cheaper alternative to Kaycap/Eurocamp?

Are there any cheaper tour operators doing this sort of thing?

Friend is looking for North of France this summer in a mobile home.

book direct with the site ... Les Castels is a chain that Keycamp?euro camp use.

we went here last year and it saved us £600 on booking with keycamp

look in the keycamp brochure then google the name of the site.

Wow, Aunty. We looked at Chateau Drancourt last year and that was one I was recommending she considers.

really good - yes. we went in june so it was a little cool and quiet but otherwise very good. the naerest town - st.valery has some wonderful restaurants and the site restaurant is superb as well. didn't find any snady baeches tho' - all pebbles, but we didn't look too far. the site does coach trips to disney in hiigh season too. less than an hour from Calais...a big plus.

Matthews Holidays . Another mumsnetter put me onto them. I got a caravan for less than I was going to pay for a tent with Canvas. They have a forum where you can read up on what people thought of the sites.

Have been looking at the Chateau Drancourt site and the mobile homes look nice and reasonably priced. (£600 for a week in July) Did you stay in a mobile home? Was the accommodation of a good standard? How close together are the pitches?

Final question - was there lots to do on site for the children? Hers are aged 6 and 4.

all the piches are a good size, in fact some of them are HUGE. i think i still have a plan of the site somewhere if i can find it I can tell you which ones are very big.
the play areas are ideal for a 6 & 4 year old, there is crazy golf and a large playfield for kicking a ball about. you can hire bikes, go-karts and in high season there are pony rides.

can't say much about the vans as we were with keycamp on that site (I won it on here!!) but all the Castels sites ahve high standards.

toilet blocks always being cleaned, bins empited foliage trimmed etc etc. the bins are at the end of each row so I would ask to be away from them- flies, peopel backwards and forwards all the time and then they are empitied very day.

the only down side was that you needed the car all the time, there were wlaks to do roundabout but you needed the car to go into the town. but there are 2 take-aways on site.

it is a relatively small site but has all the ammenities, go for it.

i think i did a MN review of the site - will look

I have plugged Matthews Hols on many occasions (think it was me Frosty ) but Haven/Siblu are also worth a look. More pricey than Matthews but more choice & cheaper than Euro & Keycamps.

we have also used Carisma. They are all beach sites so no packing the car to go to the beach, you are already there

How about getting the brochures, picking the site you want and then contacting the site direct via their website. we have done this with chateau des ormes (which was fantastic), la pointe de st gilles (right by the beach), la bein assise (good stop over at calais), they all generally have their own static caravans, timber lodges etc, and they always have a kids animation club if they want to join in. You can also search for your crossing then and book the cheapest. we have also booked a static caravan in france privatly out of the loot paper (www.loot.com)
