Nice campsite near Newcastle?

Can anyone help - it's for the weekend of the Great North Run and we will be in a motorhome. Anyone know of a nice campsite not too far from South Shields (20 miles radius). Thanks!

I think there are camps around Kielder dam (sp) is that to far out? Have only seen good write ups in the MMM magazine though not been myslef

Kielder is a fair way out - about 45 mins from Newcastle on the wrong side for South Shields.

I've not been to any near Shields so my suggestions won't be much better but have been to wellhouse farm just north of Corbridge which is 20 mins out of Newcastle (although wrong side for Shields) and Springhill farm which is about 45 mins north. Both good - wellhouse farm more basic but perfectly clean and servicable.

I'd prob put south shields into UKcampsite to find somewhere closer if I were you...
