Sleeping Bag for 4 year old and 10 month old?? suggestions please

we are going on out first camping trip in 2 weeks time and am looking for sleeping bags for my 4 year old. Not sure what I am doing with my 10 month old, whether to take travel cot or not? any ideas.

the vango nitestar baby is a good one for the 10 month old. when ds3 was that age he just slept on a mattress on the floor next to us

decathlon do nice kids sleeping bags. we have one of theirs for ds2, ds1 has the vango nitestar convertible

Alpkit do great sleeping bags and sleeping mats, including kid size ones.

So far, DS has camped in a Kaiser XL Cosytoes, on a Ready Bed.

Our 4 yr old has a decathlon kids sleeping bag, 3 season one. very good and warm.

When they were little both DS1 and DS2 went in the little life arc 2 travel cot, much smaller pack size than a normal travel cot.
DS1 & 2 now both sleep on mine and OH's old shorty thermarests (we have upgraded to full length ones). I put a cot sheet on for 2 year old DS2 to mop up his dribble. He still has a 2.5 tog grobag for camping as I think the kids sleeping bag is still too big for him, worried about him disappearing inside it. Layer up with bed clothes, this time of year mine are in thermal top, pjs, youngest in gro bag with blanket/s on top. At 10mth old he probably had fleecy sleepsuit type thing from primark with l-sleeve body suit underneath.

DS2 just went camping for the first time, at 8 mo. He slept in a shorty vest, a babygro, a double-thickness cotton pj jacket and his 2.5 grobag. I put part of my woollen blanket that I was using over him in the night when the temperature dropped. He was next to me, on a thermarest with a blanket and flannel sheet tucked on top. He seemed fine - ears and fingers were freezing but everything else stayed toasty.

For the baby (11months) we used a gro bag and then put her in the cosy toes from her buggy - worked very well. A couple of nights when it was really cold, I just put a wool blanket over the top.

You could use an adult sleeping bag but folded in half for the older child, unless you have a childs one (we did, ut have also used the former). Fold it in half, so that the bottom part is under the top, that way they can't snuggle too far down, iyswim.

Put thick socks on the babys hands after baby falls asleep and tuck them up the sleeve or use long ones (or just bigger ones) which will go up to the elbow.

Ds2 has used a grown up sleeping bag since he was 2, with cotton and fleece PJs + socks + wooly hat if really freezing.
DD has camped from April of this year when she was 5 months and is now a veteran of 6 trips. She wears vest, sleepsuit, fleece suit, 2.5 tog gro bag + hat and wooly trousers if colder and once a jumper as well when it was v cold. She sleeps on the mat in between me and the tent heater (DH), although he always turns his back on her as she tends to poke us in the eye/pull our noses in the night. By herself on the readybed she felt much colder, so we don't bother with it anymore.
I like the idea with the socks, her hands always feel cold even when the rest of her is warm.

also the cosy toes idea is brilliant!

my 2 have Ajungilak Little Viking 140s- they have a zip off foot so you can make them shorter/longer, zips down both sides to make it easy getting in/out, and are decently warm (i'd expect camping in sepg to be pretty cool at night).
when DS started camping (4mo) he was in vest, sleepsuit, cardigan, 2.5 tog grobag, and I added a cellular blanket later in the evening to keep him warm. He slept on top of a blanket (adult) folded up many times, and he was v cosy.

we also used to do what wickedfairy did, have the 4yo in an adukt bag folded over for comfort- works well, as we borrowed the spare adult bag each time, so no cash outlay!
