couple of questions about Icey-Teks/Igloos

Have been looking at options for coolboxes and have been put off electric coolboxes due to noise from fans (which will annoy me at night!), reliance on EHU, potential to not keep food cool if temps warm and cost (when taking into account these negative points).

Am now looking at Icey-Teks/Igloos/Coleman Xtremes but first need to convince DH and second have a question which hopefully someone can answer:

  • after the 5 day freezing period has expired, will things still stay cool (even if not frozen) for a few more days after this and also can they be topped up again with ice cubes to effectively restart the freezing process?

Am asking because am thinking about their potential if we go camping for a week or more need.

Thanks.

tricky one, because of course temp in your cool box depends on all sorts of factors, outside temp being rather important, that and how full your coolbox is, how many times a day you are opening it etc.

A fancy coolbox won't freeze things, well not big things, it will just keep things frozen. But yes, in theory you can just keep topping it up with ice and anything that was frozen will remain so.

Absolutely yes after 5 days things will remain cold.
