Is an electric (pluh in) pump better than a battery one?

Ors is a bit feeble for pumping the airbeds. It only seems to inflate them so far.

Would one that plugs into the car be more efficient?

We have one that runs off the car or off mains - has some kind of invertor thingy. Noisy but effective. I think its an Outwell one. Not sure though, thinking about it, whether it is one gadget or two... Will have to ask DP later. Its useful to have one that sucks also, for deflation. Helps to get the deflated airbeds as small as possible for packing.

Car ones are good but a problem if you can't park your car near your tent and it is raining when you want to either inflate or re-inflate your air bed.

yes, much better imo. We have a powerpack thing that you can plug into for power (means you don't need an electric pitch, but can run things for short times/low load or recharge phones)
