you lot have got me lusting over bell tents again (dh is rolling his eyes at me as we are broke, but I can dream)

But check out this site- and this tent. If it had a sig it would be amazing :)

www.albioncanvas.co.uk/nomad-tents/moorish-tent.html

I dread to think how expensive these are-especially the huge yurt!

Obelink.nl have a sale on ATM which is tempting as we have a friend living over there-dh doesn't see the inevitability of it all Grin

I know it makes no sense as it obviously has a strong history behind it, but it always looks a bit playtenty to me, especially the painted bits. However, would love the space inside. Also, would think it's a more permanent structure, so possibly good to hire out on your own campsite.

Saying that, I do like tentipis, as they look proper adventury and easy to pitch.

Sorry to all pedants reading for making your heads explode with my made-up words.

needanewname · 15/06/2011 23:32

Not really a fan of the tipis I've seen but am always happy to be persuaded otherwise!!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 16/06/2011 04:30
Grin

Oh yes nettletea-where is your site? We could do a MN road test

Dh has stayed in tipis and loved it, especially the fire in the middle thing.

Our site is going to be in the South East - about 8 miles from the coast. Planning application is going through but we might be sneaking a bit of '28 day rule permitted development' camping this August......

and yes, we will be allowing fires, but probably in big fire saucers as we are in an area of Outstanding Beauty and have a scheduled monument and archaeology on the site.

Lovecat · 17/06/2011 11:08

Oooh, sounds wonderful! MN Meet up, anyone? :o

needanewname · 17/06/2011 11:22

Can I book now?!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 17/06/2011 11:25

Now this sounds like a v tempting idea...

The only problem is I'm currently broke until I return to work end of august so I may have to come as your glamping housemaid Grin

Yeay, South East GOOD.

Lovecat, I'll be game for meetup!

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 12:13

If you're ready for visitors (I care not about facilities), please post link or PM me, I'm honestly interested.

Lovecat · 17/06/2011 13:02

Me too, please - always wanting to hear about nearby campsites that allow campfires - campfires near the coast is my absolute ideal!

needanewname · 17/06/2011 13:24

Don't forget me!!

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 13:28

Loving this. I'm not normally keen on big meetups, but for some reason would love to meet you all in person over a glass of wine with a fire cracking in the background.

needanewname · 17/06/2011 13:31

And marshmallows? Will you be gentle with means my bunting Grin

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 13:32

Ooh, always marshmallows. And I-ve also got bunting. Grin

Lovecat · 17/06/2011 15:18

I have bunting envy.

But I do have solar fairylights and a homemade felt garland thingy .

Always marshmallows on pointy sticks.

NettleTea · 17/06/2011 20:05

OOOH, now theres an idea!!
Would have to run it past the other half, and think about where to do it, but it certainly would piss off the neighbours who complained about the 8 tent planning application. AND be completely legal too!!

Ameneties would be just about zilch. could do running water, and sort out something basic on the toilet front. No Showers. But award winning bread and celebrity endorsed sausages!! Just thinking out loud, I would suggest the August bank holiday - Friday to Monday - they are our last days we are permitted to camp, so could go out with a bang. If we had an official 'Mumsnet' banner then that would pee the neighbours off even more, as I supect a couple of them might be on here (looks around nervously.....) I have another forum who could be interested too, so the crunchier mum's could pop between fields!!
And 4 'glamping' spots away from the rabble.......

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 17/06/2011 20:07

Dh has said you all sound naice so we would br interested :) sounds fun!!

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 20:10

Oh yes, that is a fabulous idea! Yes yes yes, go and put on your flimsiest nightwear and do a little twirl for dearly beloved.

With a camping contract in your hand, of course.

Lovecat · 18/06/2011 00:36

Ooh, yes. We are camping the weekend beforehand but I would love to go again the next week! (Not sure I could persuade DH, as he has to go on a training course in Paris on that Monday - his firm being international whatsits they don't take account of our bank hols - but DD would love it regardless). I have my own loo facilities (well, I'd need somewhere to empty it too) and a solar shower, but tbh would only require a tap.

Bread & sausages sounds good - but what's a crunchy mum? Confused

needanewname · 18/06/2011 09:53

Boo Sad. I can't do that weekend. Or the weekend before Sad. And I'm not sure dh is up for camping 3 weeks on a row!!

Let me know how it goes and have a marshmallow for me SadSad

MisSalLaneous · 19/06/2011 20:42

Sad needanewname.
