vango icarus here withthefront porch extension - might be selling it depending on how our motorhome trip goes.

EggyAllenPoe · 06/06/2011 23:24

i have borrowed my parents motorhome sometimes..(i am not allowed to drive it though!)

it is a very comfortable and convenient way to camp.. you may never go back!

Have to admit we are looking at buying a caravan next year Blush

whyme2 · 07/06/2011 07:28

We have a Gelert Olympus 8 man (there are 6 of us). It is very easy to put up and this year we have treated ourselves to the matching porch which is unused as yet.

itsnicetobenice · 07/06/2011 07:58

eggallen dotn say that tents are way cheaper than a motor home! I am worried i will lose the roof or the sides in a hedgerow Blush

I have a bitof a tent collection!
I have an Albion Canvas 3m bell tent with a tipi opening, great for couples camping.
Next is a really scruffy old 16ft scouting bell tent, this will probably be sold this summer
Just bought a 5m Soulpad bell tent, which we will be using in 3 weeks
There is an 18ft tipi, which is fab but better if it can be left up for a long period as its quite tricky to get up and down.
I have a retro danish frame tent by 1-2-Trio in beiges and brown, and a caramel/brown frame tent by Lichfield......

at the moment.
I have recently been taken by some of the dutch pyramid tents - a lottery win and Im getting a De Waard big one with a fancy awning, or an Albion Canvas safari tent, or a yurt.......

I think Ive got a bit of a habit.......

I have a collection to,
An outdoor revolution scenic 7 for main hols of 5 nights or more, great tent but takes a while to put up.
A quechua Base seconds 4.1 for short breaks or when its just some of us[we don't all fit in]
An outwell jersey m which we use as a pup tent or short break when staying with friends next to their caravan.
and
A jersey S which only I have slept in at a one night camp at alton towers with the guides last year, I only paid £25 for it so it can stay in the loft till we need it again.
I nearly forgot, my brilliant base seconds which I use as a day tent when in the little pop up or as a porch.

I think I have run out of storage space nowWink.

We've got a Vango Diablo 600 which is a fab tent but too hard to put up. We should sell it really as I can't see us using it now we have the Kyham Harewood plus porch.

Funtimewincies · 09/06/2011 18:19

We've got a Wynnster Faro 5 (2010 model) which is good. It takes dh and I about 10 minutes to get the footprint down and poles in and then it takes one of us about another 20mins to get the other pegs and ropes and inner tent sorted out. It fits me, dh and 2 ds just right Grin.

a tent is vastly vastly cheaper in almost every way.

you can camp in an 'aire du repose' in a motorhome though, not in a tent.

voodoomunkee · 09/06/2011 19:51

we have a coleman modulusx7. I LOVE my tent! Looks huge (and is if i am honest!). God I want to go camping right now!

FranticBanana · 10/06/2011 21:06

Another vote for the Kampa Filey 6 here. Not had it long but love it (and I can pitch it quite easily by myself). The tent collection here takes up most of the cellar and also includes 2 x Quechua Base Seconds, 1 x Base Seconds full, 1 x 2 seconds IV, 1 x 2 seconds 3 and a Vango Aspen 700 which was much loved but is sadly on the way out.

I want to go camping right now too! But fortunately have Take That on Sunday to look forward to instead. Grin
