Belltent owners - is it worth the extra £££ for a ZIG?

Soulpad Lite 5m is £349, Hybrid is £439. Is it worth it for the £90 difference?

Ohh yes...if you're camping in UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ZIG keeps you, drier, warmer and less insecty...all big plusses in my mind as love sleeping and hate holding up tent whilst river runs through it/wind blows under it...It is a lot of extra money but I think you'll end up feeling like camping more often and maybe for longer so cost per use added up for us. Might not be so important if you're just weekending or have campervan for foul weather. We upgraded because we saw how much more comfortable the ZIG made it.

Oh OK, I see, thanks. So you've had both?

It's just that I was reading an old thread where someone said it was just a gimmick, but seems quite sensible to me.

Do you know if the Soulpad Hybrid can be completely unzipped for the 'floaty' feel?

Yes we've had both styles. Camped for years without ZIG and survived perfectly well but have found ZIG much more comfy and children sleep much better (mind you we have 4 so perhaps we need more seams to bulge against than most??) Ours can be fully unzipped and the sides rolled (but it's not a Soul pad...as bought from maker now out of business). The soul pad chap will let you take the tent away to pitch nearby if you collect on a fine day and will refund/exchange if you change your mind...I think he's got some pictures on their website of rolled bell tents.................but haven't looked for a while.....tends to lead to tent envy and we can't afford another one!!! Hope this helps. Happy shopping.

PS Don't get a fully sewn in ground sheet...impossible to keep clean and too hot in high summer. PS couldn't resist looking at the website and yes hybrid can definitely be rolled up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [www.soulpad.co.uk]

Thank you :)

Yes it is!

We don;t have soulpad but the Obelink equivalent. We also bought a separate bag for the groundsheet so that if its dirty it doesn;t spoil the tent.

THere's no worries about water getting in (though I;ve only ever read one review where they said water did get in all the others said there were no problems - and believe me I reasearched this!!!) the same for the wind, but if you want to roll up you can do.

Buy it you won;t regret it!

I've bought it! SO very excited! (And terrified of spending so much money). I really do hope it's worth it, not in the habit of spending so much!
