Hey I certainly will MisSal - are you the camping obsessed sal who has a cupboard???

I am getting nervous that getting the dutch oven was a mistake as everyone on here seems to have a cadac or cobb and I want to be in the popular girls group

We know that making and lighting the fire is going to be a major drag (but we are going to a site with fire pits etc and obviously this dry weather will continue!). We got a dutch oven for two main reasons - teaching ds and dd boy scout style cooking over camp fire.
Reason 2 is that we are veggie so grilling bacon/steaks etc isnt really our thing! We eat a lot of one pot wonders - pasta, stew, curries (actually will need a second pot for the rice........... but we have a wee gas stove for the 2nd pot and the kettle) Also we have toasting forks............... mmmmm!

The site we are going to is nearish to you as well - so if we love it I will also let you know :)

MisSalLaneous · 22/05/2011 21:44

Uhm, possibly. Blush It is a tiny camping cupboard, if that helps? I am, however, slightly obsessed, yes. Smile

We've got a Cadac, and it is lovely, really is, but I think dutch oven is something entirely different. Kind of back-to-basics. Starting fire is good though, there's something strangely therapeutic about the whole process. Also, how are you supposed to grill marshmallows if you don't have a fire? Shock Bet you it would be lovely, can't wait to hear!

MisSal - you like pickyourown fruit?????

You once had a bad day and decided your best option was to retreat to a cupboard for a few hours - It was a concept that inspired me - still helps me to cope with ds on his bad days.
Also if you are the sal I am thinking of your dh once put your most precious tent in the shed............. instead of the camping cupboard (obviously not the cupboard as that is purely metaphorical!)

thread hijack over - as you were ladies :)

MisSalLaneous · 22/05/2011 22:06

Ha no, it seems the other Sal is even more obsessed than me, sorry, wasn't me! :) Think I might love her though, what a very practical woman. Grin

LauraIngallsWilder · 22/05/2011 22:15

Oh I am confused now! I have been convinced for a couple of weeks that you were sallystrawberry with a new name Blush

Apologies!

MisSalLaneous · 22/05/2011 22:31

Hahaha, no, don't be silly. I didn't know about her when I picked my name a couple of years ago, but she was on MN way before me.

Mila, get the big saucepan/wok. We use it loads.

I'm not the other Sal but my DH wanted to put my lovely new bell tent in the garage, I refused and its stored under the bed, we recently had an invasion of mice - he's glad he didn;t put it in the shed now!
