We are off for 1st trip of the year in July to Dorset, hoping to do Ulwell Cottage (walkable to Swanage and sandy beach), The Inside Park (in the woods, bike trails etc) & Riverside Lakes (in the woods with FIRES Grin).

Tell me where your going!

Already been to Devizes c&cc , dernwood farm and haven littlesea.

Still to come is a weekend at graham c&cc, 8 nights at moreton c&cc and 12 night in camping guyonniere, vendee.

That the booked stuff and I'll probably do odd weekends at c&cc temp hol sites too.

OOOH I Love Dorset! We first visited last year - beaches are fantastic! Lovely little place on the pier at Swanage that sells fish n chips with a glass of bubbly!

This year we are doing camping in the Lake District the odd weekend, kids will probably go with grandparents for a week in the Hebrides, DH is taking the kids to St Andrews for a week, and we are having 2 weeks in Javea at the end of the summer.

And DH and I have a trip to Prague next month, without children! Woohoo!

We are going to Dorset. We always do, never been anywhere else. For the last time. Our caravan has died. Sad
Sad
We only paid £200 to our neighbours, for a 5 birth swift, with everything, awning, washing line pegs etc. But we have worked so hard on, done the roof. But it is so damp and bathroom is practically collapsing. Dh says we will be lucky to get the summer out of it.
Not sure if we can afford to buy anotther one. we need one witout damp and they don't come cheap.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 18/05/2011 21:44

:( RIP caravan

We Dorset locals, so off to the new forest in 2 weeks and hunting for tiny campsites for august - I need to get better at "pack and go"
But with 2 under 3 I'm not so flexible. I want a campervan Grin

Quenelle · 19/05/2011 09:35

I love the look of Riverside Lakes and The Inside Park. I don't think DH will go for the lakes yet though with DS being so young (2 yrs).

We've got our summer holiday booked (villa on Greek Island) but are taking delivery of our new tent today and plan to get away for a week in the summer holidays.

Lovecat · 19/05/2011 11:33

Going away next weekend to Long Meadow in the New Forest, then Latitude weekender, and then a week at Trevornick in Holywell Bay in July. That'll be our first 'proper' camping holiday, so we chose a place with facilities just in case - although I'm now wibbling, having read what other MNs think of holiday park type places with clubhouses... I'm really hoping it won't be too lairy!

And if the weather goes the way it's predicted, we'll have some more weekends away in August - DD's drama class prevents us doing weekends away in term time (grr....)

surfandturf · 19/05/2011 11:37

Hi Seashells I'm in Dorset too!

We are off on our first trip of the year at half term. Heading to Nantycol Falls in Snowdonia - can't wait!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 19/05/2011 12:59

:) hello!

notwavingjustironing · 19/05/2011 15:16

Some Forest camping
Some Lake camping
Some Beach camping

Cannot wait. Have been and bought some more tat essential items today. Four weeks tomorrow till our first camp, and I'm still trying to shoehorn another one in....

Quenelle · 19/05/2011 15:59

We were going to take our new tent to Wicksteed Park for one night on Saturday but it's going to rain Sad

No point in taking it somewhere just to get it wet and bring it home again.

moonmother · 19/05/2011 16:11

Lovecat have you been to Long Meadow before? We're off there for the first time at the end of July for a week.

sandyballs · 19/05/2011 16:17

Singing Sands, I love Javea, you lucky thing. We go most years but not this one unfortunately due to money - doing up our house.

So just camping for us this year - hopefully River Dart Country Park and maybe closer to home, Wittering or Kent.

MrsKaravan · 19/05/2011 18:03

5 weeks till we go to Bryher on Isles of Scilly for 2 weeks. Can't wait!

Ineedalife · 19/05/2011 18:13

We have done Bala already and looking for somewhere for whitsun. Padstow and somewhere else in cornwall in the summer.

And Guide camp not far from homeGrin.

FranticBanana · 19/05/2011 18:58

We went to Dorset last summer and stayed at Moreton. It was lovely (except the day we arrived, when it poured with rain and our inner-first tent had to be baled out as soon as it was up). This year we're going to Kingsbury Water Park at Spring Bank, then a couple of weekends not too far away, then in the summer holidays it's Graffham, Norman's Bay, Windermere and Kirkcudbright - and still one more week to sort.

Can't wait!

Nikkid21 · 19/05/2011 19:45

I looked in on moreton on my way home from littlesea last weekend and it does look like a nice site. We're camping with another mum from school. The dads come for the setting up & striking camp - they just go home and work on the weekdays leaving us there.

Lovecat · 19/05/2011 20:53

Hi moonmother, no, this is our first time there, although I've been to Brockenhurst before (non-camping) and love the area. We've hired cycles from a place that will deliver them to the campsite and I can't wait! I'll report back and let you know how it goes... :)

surfandturf · 20/05/2011 22:30

Ineedalife - we went to Perranporth in Cornwall last year and that was great. Can't remember the name of the campsite Blush

Franticbanana - I love Windermere - spent many a dirty romantic weekend there when me and DH started courting! Grin

Beamur · 20/05/2011 22:32

We're heading north to Oban and maybe Mull.

3rdnparty · 21/05/2011 08:52

done : high creek, Norfolk, Minden Farm Suffolk,
next: Britchombe, oxfordshire
planned weekends: Postern Hill, wiltshire. Town Farm, Bucks
2 weeks: La Chantepie France
Festival Shambala

trying to fit in more weekends as well - love Swanage and not got that in the plan yet....
have to camp a lot to justify my camping spending! as pence per use sounds much better than pounds per use to dh Grin and wanting to purchase decent non ehu cool box this year as cheap electric one crap....

FranticBanana · 21/05/2011 08:59

3rdnparty - know what you mean about camping to justify the spending - it also keeps me away from the computer so I'm not surfing the UKCS boards looking for things I want NEED.

surfandturf - 'twill be just me and 2 year old DS at Windermere, so the closest I'm going to get to a dirty weekend will be jumping up and down in muddy puddles!

TooManyBlossoms · 21/05/2011 09:08

We're going to Perranporth in August, and we've got a weekend booked in Bakewell in June. That's it so far, hopefully get another couple of weekends away too Smile.

ninah · 21/05/2011 09:10

Green Man in the Brecons and hopefully a few days near a beach afterwards, weather permitting!
