Has anyone stayed here? Any tips? We have booked for the summer and just wondered if any one had any info of the campsite, area or nearby restaurants? Many Thanks

We have just come home from Chateau des Marias Holiday Park. We stayed in a 4 person mobile home which was fine for the 12 days. The park is just a nice size with a nice atmosphere. The park organises a cheese and wine session each Tues at 5pm at the local farm 5 minute walk away. 3.00 euros for adults over 18yrs. You have a tour of the farm then onto tasting. The cheese is yummy. oh and the wine. Nearby is the Chateau Chambord which is beautiful. A few restaurant and shops. Plenty of walks. You can hire boats and bikes. We hired bikes which was fun. They do josling shows twice a day for 12.00 euros an adults. Blois 10 miles away is a nice town to visit. Troglodytes caves (36.00 euros family of 4 for 1 1/2 hour tour) in Louchees are good, also in the town you can take a walk up the side of the cliff to see troglodytes (most are boarded up or being renovated). Kayakng near Blois at 18.00 euros each person for 10km along the river loire - good fun but tiring. Oh and not forgetting a visit to Paris. We drove to Paris and Parked in a prepaid car park 5 mins walk from the Eiffel Tower. 26.00 euros for 12 hours. We left at 7am The journey took 1.45hrs toll road at 13.70 euros each way. It was so much cheaper to drive in to Paris. If you catch the train from Mer to Paris it is 48.50 euros rtn each person. then you have to get the metro to your destination in Paris. The journey takes 1 1/2 hours. Early train is 08.05. So for a family of 4 it was so much cheaper to drive - with SatNav of course. Have a good holiday
