Camping for the Olympics

I realise that prices will go through the roof but if we get some of the tickets we've applied for we're hoping to combine camping in France, which we have done plenty of times through Keycamp, and a campsite within easy train journey of central London. I'm in Scotland so have no knowledge of suitable locations. Please help.

THere is a campsite (caravan club?) in Crystal Palace which would be pretty handy. Try googling it!

We live near that campsite - was tempted to book and rent our house out!!!

We've stayed at Debden House, which is on the Central Line (direct to Stratford and Central London) and a really lovely site - they have some EHU pitches or else allow campfires (free firewood) in other fields. It's got a cafe and shop, decent loos and showers, and although it's right in Epping Forest you're only a 5 min drive/20 min walk from civilisation.

Hmm... may do what Needanewname suggests and stay there for the summer instead! :o

There is a website advertising sites in peoples gardens in central London! I saw it in one of the Sunday supplements but can't remember what it is called!

Thanks very much love the look of Debden House, nervously checking the bank balance now to see if I'm in luck. So how quickly would I been in London from there? Is Brighton as well connected to London as they make out on Location, Location, Location ( sadly my source of knowledge)?

Debden tube is about 30 mins from oxford circus and about 15-20 mins from Stratford. The campsite is about a 20 min walk from the tube or 2mins by car. Hth :) not sure about brighton, I think it's 40 mins on a fast train, plus however long on the Jubilee line to Stratford from London Bridge.
