Camping in April with 2 year old and 4 month old - advice wanted please...

We're hoping to go camping at the end of the month with our 2 year old and 4 month old. We've taken the oldest camping before, but he was smaller and it was stonkingly hot in France last summer. I've no idea what to dress them in / sleep them on / how the devil I'm going to get them to sleep before midnight and after 5am in a tent in England at this time of year. I'm guessing that we'll be pretty chilly at night, and that we'll all be up with the sun.

Can anyone give me any advice about camping with children of this age so that we don't all end up totally freezing and uncomfortable and knackered and grumpy?

thanks.

We did it when mine were about the same age. We took the travel cot, a blow up bed for us and a readybed for my 2 year old. Neither settled down to sleep before 11pm as it was too light outside and my 2 year old ended up in beside us as she kept falling out of her readybed! We did bring along a portable dvd player which kept them occupied for the best part of the night though! My suggestion would be to get them tired out with as much fresh air and playing as possible during the day and hopefully they will eventually flop! Take quilts instead or as well as sleeping bags and just go with the flow if you can, we resigned ourselves to the fact there would be some late nights but we still had a good holiday.

thanks, mouldy. are readybeds ok for 2 year olds? (i thought they were for 3 and up) that would be really useful if they are.
