In a fit of madness I agreed to DD1 friends sleeping over tonight in our new tent, which is up in our garden. The kids are family friends and are 7,9 &11. My DD is nearly 7. DD2 is 4 and wanting to join in the party. Am I mad? Any tips? I've not slept in a tent for 16 years.

DH and DS1 slept in our new tent in our back garden last night. By all accounts, they slept pretty well (until next door's cockerel got going this morning). They took DS1's duvet to sleep on, sleeping bags, a torch and some biscuits (the most important bit, probably!). I gave them hats but I don't think they used them! DS2 (who's 4) wanted to sleep out too, but it recovering from a sickness bug so we decided it was better for him to sleep indoors as he wasn't really well enough to cope with the inevitable late night. Anyway, hope you have fun!

It was great fun. Had thermarests and thermals under pjs. My DD2, 4 yrs old slept till 8, despite seagulls fighting and crows cawing above our heads. Really looking forward to proper camping now :)
