twit, you deffo need to think trailor tent at least. you will need a trailer anyway for all the stuff if there are 7 of you. i am one of six and we used to bring a horse box full of stuff on holiday!

Yes, I was thinking trailer tent TBH, it's just storing it. Still probably easier than a caravan (or a horse box)

i think with 5 kids an gigantic tent is justified. but there was a couple next to us 2 nights ago with a hugenormous podified creation, that makes no sense

I hate camping in small tents. I want to be able to stand up to get dressed, walk around. Our is a big dome tent with two seeping bits and a porch. The porch is brilliant if it's wet as you can leave wet stuff in there and the rest of the tent doesn't get wet.

It only takes about half an hour to put up and take down.

Also got it on ebay almost brand new so a bargain at £100.

Frinton 4 is perfect weekend tent. The steel pole / fibreglass pole combo works really well. In the bed pods we comfortably fit 2x wide sim from costco for dh & I, a regular aim for ds and a camp bed for dd.

We use a wynnster leisure shelter for extra covered space if the campsite allows but it's fine for 4.

Should add that we take so much gear on long camps that we have a trailer with added high sides . We do just fill the boot and roofbox for weekend camps.

Twit- big and complicated though the Florida is , you want the space if you plan to do long camps and are committed to going whatever the weather.

Should I start my own thread?

Twit you could add a "base seconds" to the XL I think and then you would have 3 bedrooms and a living room (but you would have to walk through one bedroom to get to the others.

Alternatively, if some of your DC are old enough, couldn't you put 2 of them in a separate "pup" tent? DSIL did this with her DD from age 2!

Twit · 15/04/2011 09:45

Er...base seconds, pup tents?

I have created my own thread coughherecough

Think a pup tent is just an extra, small (say 2 man) tent that you can put on the same pitch without paying extra?

base seconds is an extra square tent you can add onto any of the decathlon pop-ups or maybe even other tents as an extra living/sleeping space.
