Hi all, i'm hoping to take the family camping next weekend but as we're firmly crunched financially i'm looking for the best value site i can find. Does anyone have any recommendations for sites?

The one in Edale is supposed to be nice - Fieldhead IIRC.

Last time we camped in Derbyshire it was a different site, a field with one spidery toilet, one tap and full of D of E teenagers - maybe that's too much value even for you. I will try and remember the name if you're that desperate.

Was that confusing? I meant to say we did NOT stay at Fieldhead, but somewhere else.

Are you a member of camping & caravanning club?

If so why not go on a DA meet.... Cost less than £15 for a weekend usually....

Just need own San and be able to cope with no EHU....

Or a certificated site.... Usually from £5 - £10 per night depending on facilities ( some have toilet / shower / EHU)

Is that a real name? It was called Highfield. It is so basic it's brilliant, just one step away from wild camping, gorgeous views, genuine decomposing farm machinery and sheep everywhere. I would not really recommend it for the clean showers brigade though!

Upper Booth in Edale is my favourite site. Very basic, no EHU but beautiful.

Greenlotus - I think we've walked through Highfield when we've stayed at Upper Booth. If I could guarantee a spot by the river with no one else around we'd definitely go there as it's an amazing space!

I'm off to Fieldhead campsite next week for a few days. Getting a bit scared as it's my first trip with just the DC's, it's a new tent, got no EHU and it's only my second ever camping trip! Just hoping the weather is decent enough for us to get some hill-walking done.

Does anyone know what the showers/toilets are like at this campsite? Any recommendations on where to pitch?
