looking at buying a tent for 2 adults and then 3 children aged 2,4,6. I am thinking it would be good to have 3 rooms? but basically don't have a clue what I am doing! any help gratefully received....

What about this one?

It gets good reviews on ukcampsite website and the pods are big enough for 3 single airbeds. It is a good price for a large tent with a 3000HH rating [thats how waterproof it is].

I would read some reviews if I were you, go to ukcampsite...tent reviews and then find it in the list.

Good luck and happy campingSmile.

Where abouts do you live as someone may be able to recommend a good place to go and look at some tents that are up. We used to go to SK Camping (I think near East Grinstead) a lot when we were looking at tents, (I feel another visit is needed soon!)

Think about what you want the tent for. When we first started I definitely wanted at least 3 rooms (one for us, one for kids, and one for storage!) as well as a big living space and I had to be able to stand up. We went for an Outwell Hartford XXL which was fab and ticked all the boxes, however it was a bit too big and took forever to put up.

I've now gone the other way and got a bell tent, only one room (well 2 I suppose as we got the inner too) but it takes 15 / 20 mins to put up max.

Also what material are you looking at? Nylon - lighter in weight, much more choice but can get very hot during the summer months. Canvas - great in hot weather (warmer on cold weather), nothing beats the smell and feel of canvas but its very heavy and can cost a lot more (depending on which style you are looking for)

WE are a family of 5 and have something that approximates this one

tent

Ours sleeps 8 in 4 roms as well as having a huge living area.

Easy to put up and down and we love it - can't wait for the season to start!

We are a family of 5(mixed sexes) and have the Outwell Vermont XL,it's perfect. There are 3 bedrooms or you can make it into 2. Loads of space.

Whatever you do you need to double check it will take 5 airbeds. We nearly bought a Montana and dp lobbed in 5 airbeds as I was paying-they didn't fit.

The Vermont has a huge living space and a wardrobe place you can zip all the clothes bags in separately-both are a godsend on rainy days.

We are also a family of 5 and last year we bought a Monte Verde 900. Got it in the sales last summer by scanning the internet and it made a big difference to price. We're very happy with it.
