Hello

Has anyone been camping at the Red Shoot campsite in the New Forest?

We are going at the end of May and its our first camping trip with our 2 year old son. We have only ever been camping once before so i was hoping you could give us some advice on camping with a toddler and any reviwes on the camp site please?

Basicly what do i need to know to make sure its a good experiance so my Husband will go again Grin

I can give you some general advice about camping with toddlers.

  1. Take a waterproof suit so he can run around even in the dew and the rain.

  2. Make no attempt to put him to sleep at night until it's fully dark and he's unable to keep his eyes open.

  3. Zip up doors to the top (beyond his reach) so your son doesn't unzip them and escape from the tent.

  4. Find out where the nearest soft play centre is (if you get lucky, a pub with a soft play centre) in case you get a week of unalleviated storms.

  5. Take plenty of alcohol!

Kids love camping - it'll be great. :)

its a nice pub, so if HB gets stressed I'd just send him there. if it does rain, you are fairly close to a load of towns - southampton, bournemouth, ringwood.

do not feed the ponies - they are wild animals and they do sometimes bite and kick.

don't forget noise travels through canvas, especially at night/early morning when your neighbours may still be sleeping
