Camp sites in the New Forest

Hello,
Does anyone know any good campsites in the new forest area?
Our tent is huge 8 person one so the sites needs to accept the large tents. We would also prefer there to be toilets & showers.
We will be taking our 2 year old child so family friendly is also a must.
Does anyone know any sites they would recommend?

This is a lovely place, but if not suitable, check out these or these

We've been to a couple of the Forest Holidays places, both had good facilities but you have to check the website because they are not all the same. One thing I will say is take good pegs! The ground looks all sandy and soft but it is actually like concrete.

The Holmsley one that we went to last year had plenty of space for big tents. There was also a play area for small children, a decent shop and a takeaway on site. The ponies can't actually get in the site so you don't have to worry about toddlers getting bitten or trodden on.

Hollands Wood is fabulous. We've been several times and love it. Have also been to Holmsley but didn't like that as much. Neither have marked pitches and so will take larger tents.

Hi

I'm thinking of going to the Red shoe camp sdite in the New Forest.

Has anyone been there and how was it?

NinkyNonker · 15/03/2011 10:00

Red Shoot is nice, good local walks and nice pub! We live nearby and are going to go for a weekend to test out camping with baby before venturing further afield!

Hi Ninkynonker, how old is your baby?

I'm in South Yorkshire so its far for us but we want to go to the new peppa pig land and to monkey world. Our son is 2 and we are going for a trial run round here before we go to the new forest so i'm hoping he likes it.

We have only used the tent once before so its going to be intresting to see if i remeber how to put it up Grin

She's 7 mo at the moment, so will be 8 mo at Easter and approx a year when we head off for real!

snowdrop

if going to monkey world can i reccomend longthorns which is right next door to monkeyworld. They have a gate into monkey world car park so you walk their from the site.

Its fab, toddler friendly, has animals to feed and an honesty shop so you never need run out of camping essentials (milk / marshmallows etc) and also a fridge / freezer to use as well. Just name your stuff.
the owners are so friendly and bend over backwards for you. The pitches are generous sized if you need elec, and positively enourmouse if you dont!
