Grin Usual camping trip coming up in June, and this year we want to do campfires. Going for at least a week, somerset/dorset or roughly thereabouts. Kiddy friendly site needed as DS (3) will be with us.

For that length of time I want and NEED nice showers/ toilets- quite happy with eco loos but not a shower which involves a '...colander on the end of a cold hose pipe'

But according to UK Campsite you cannot have nice showers and a campfire.

Can anyone help with Top Tips of Secret Perfect Sites?

Have you tried the cool camping or The happy campers websites? You might find something there Smile

go to longthorns

its in dorset next to monkey world

the showers are not the best in the world when every shower is in use, (ie 9am!) but take yourself off in the afternoon and you will have a nice hot shower, with reasonable power

I would recommend Westermill Farm in Exmoor. I think it's actually in Devon, but is close to the Somerset border. The far field allows camp fires, and the loos (flushing ones) and showers were spotless when we were there a few years ago.

There's a small river running along the edge of the field - hours of fun for children, fishing, paddling, swinging on ropes.

The setting is gorgeous, at the head of a long valley, with fields and moors rising on three sides.
