Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help with a campsite in northwest france. not a mamouth drive from the ferry, cos its only going to be for a week in august. would also like a nearby sandy beach with atlantic breakers for a spot of bodyboarding. (dont want much eh?)

your help would be truely appreciated as the furthest north we've been before was vendee and that was a caravan.

thank you :-)

We went here last year www.welcome.lez-eaux.com/ - although not sure its west enough for you? There were some great sandy beaches nearby (jullouville) although not sure about body boarding ability!

The Les Castels chain in France is generally well regarded if you see the reviews - very family / children oriented and well maintained. We (family with 2 x 4 year olds) loved it - the "chalet" we hired was a little cosy, but had private outdoor space, not too many English families, quite quiet, child friendly activities on the site if it wasn't beach weather!

I'll second that, we went to Chateau Les Eaux last year with two 4-y-o, one 3-y-o and an 18-month old and had SUCH a fantastic time we're going again this year to the same site and have even booked the same pitches Grin

The drive from Calais was fine, we got a breakfast time ferry, did 2 hrs in the car, stopped for lunch, did another 1 1/2 and we were there. It's a fab, fab site.
