So it has been decided that we have to have EHU.

Dh has sleep apnoea so needs to bring a CPAP machine with him everywhere he goes. A battery pack for it costs hundreds so EHU it is.

What will I need? I don't intend to bring any other appliances that need EHU. Just want to be sure as I have a habit of buying what I think is the right thing, only to find it's the wrong thing or that you need another thing to go with it.

We dont go electric but I believe all you need is one of those extension thingies, you can get them from Go Outdoors, less than £50.
Oh, and make sure when you book, you tell them you need EHU, or you may get there and there are only non-electric pitches.

If I were you, and going EHU, I would make the most of it and take an electric heater, We were freezing last June and even August at night, boiling hot days and cold at night, would have loved a heater then!! But could not justify EHU for heat alone. I am looking into other ways to keep warm safely, like artic/army sleeping bags!!

Thanks LDAC. Will look out for a heater too!Grin
Shame really. I had visions of almost-wild camping. Hopefully we won't evolve into one of those families who have a telly and satellite dish!

I know soomeone who owns no camping stuff, she just takes all her kitchen electric items like kettle, toaster, george foreman !!

Don't buy a cheap one off Ebay. Anything less than about £50 and they can be seriously dangerous. I would get one with 4 sockets too.

We had EHU extension lead from go outdoors, they had them on special last week for 34.99 i think. It's the one with 4 sockets too.

Also, keep an eye out at Aldi. They do campsing stuff a few times a year and they do a good EHU cable, as well as fridges etc.

we have a gas fridge which also runs off electricity. We use EHU when possible as fridge much easier to set up on electric. Is alsu useful to be able to charge mobiles and DS's if your DC have them.

Must admit we do sometimes take a laptop and selection of DVDs if we are camping for more than a week, just in case the weather is utterly foul. Is especially useful if you have tinies who can't read to themselves as half an hour of Dora while you cook in the rain is useful!

Camping is fab though, we love it!

Must actually get myself on an Aldi mailing list. I find the LIDL one great.

We have a 4-socket EHU too. We have an electric coolbox which is great for milk etc. The coolbox also plugs into the cigarette socket in the car while travelling. We also use the EHU for DS/phone chargers.

Can anyone recommend a heater that won't suck the entire site free of electric and trip the electrics?
