Herston Camping and Caravan site

A group of us are thinking about staying at Herston Camping and Caravan site during the summer holidays. Apparently they don't take bookings for tents. Has anyone stayed there? I'd like to know if you recommend it and in particular whether it got full. It would be rubbish if some of us got a pitch and others didn't. They say it'll be fine but then they would, wouldn't they?

Oh, apparently we are thinking of going during Carnival Week, which might make a difference?

You might end up in the overspill field over the road but there's a lot of room.

Club house can be very noisy, very late and from experience their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks. What was your experience about their customer service?

Sorry didn't get back sooner.... a bit pile 'em in and grab the dosh tbh... my friends had a terrible experience with them and a seasonal pitch.

If you want a really good site near there there's a really lovely one at Norden just outside Corfe Castle called Norden Farm. Cheaper and facilities are cleaner, and no noisy clubhouse.

I absolutely hated our stay there. We were at the bottom of the very last overflow pitch. The portaloos could barely cope and there "FAB" new ablution block was shite. We stayed there over the May BH weekend year before last.

The overflow does not have any pitches marked out so while we chose well, we had a group of 3 couples with a few babies between so close to us that we could lean on their table. The fucking swearing that came from them drove me fucking mental. Our DS was about 4 at the time and did not need to hear the way they spoke.

Even if we had our nearest and dearest camping right next to us, we would not go again. Definitely not.

I hated our stay there. It was the one and only time I camped somewhere with a clubhouse. Very noisy, hoardes of feral campsite children running around all hours, nasty loos etc. Don't go!

Grin at Numberfour going "fucking mental" at the swearing!
