Is Alan Rogers the definitive campsite book?

We are thinking of driving down through France (already live in Normandy) this summer towards Spain and taking camping stuff in the car.

We probably won't book every step of the way, but I think it would be useful to have a campsite guide for reference.

I have heard of (and used online) the Alan Rogers book - are there any others?

Thanks

Hi,

Alan Rogers is good but very selective, it's fine if there are campsites on the route you have chosen but if not you could end up going miles out of your way to stay in one. Try the Michelin guide to camping in France (will be available in any bookshop in France), much more comprehensive and very reliable for descriptions, quality of campsite etc. I would just use Alan Rogers online to check out if there are any campsites on your route that appeal to you

Not sure what the Cool Camping Europe book is like? The UK ones are great, and I have ordered this one from the cool camping website.

(we are in Switzerland so hoping to explore Switzerland, Germany, Italy and France on our weekends this summer.

I have also had good luck with this site:

www.ukcampsite.co.uk/ when we have camped in France and Belgium?

Thanks for the recommendations. I have looked on Amazon too and the Michelin one or the "camping and caravanning" ones seem to be recommended as directories of most of the sites, and the Alan Rogers for reviews, as you say Alison.

I think I will have a look at ukcampsite too and try and plan a route and look out for good sites.

Thanks all.

As well as uk camopsite you might want to think about the caravan and camping site: huge book included of UK sites and the European / American etc sites all online

For the price and with what;s included we always found them excellent value

Thanks - did you mean their book?

If you join they send you a massive book as part of the package and euro / America trips etc become bookable online.
