Aaargh, PLease HELP!! Family want to camp near Rome in Summer

. . . are we mad? Will it be unbearably hot? If not how on earth do I find a nice site, with a pool, near to beach, suitable for teens and younger (10 & 7 kids) that caters to English. Am complete novice to this, my first attempt last year got us a beautiful campsite in the Dordogne that was entirely & completely Dutch! All the sites I seem to find that look nice ('Suncamp')only have Dutch & German reviews (though the site's are in English). What am I doing wrong?

And to make matters worse don't speak a word of Italian. Will have to do a family crash course!

Please, please some kind MN'tter with more experience and knowledge of how this works guide me through this minefield.

Get Air conditioning in your van though!

Personally, I like the look of all the sites on the Venetian coast, Union Lido etc. They have loads of pools and private beaches, with trips to Venice available.

For me? Yes! We nearly died on the Cote D'Azur one August on a 2 site holiday, one week air-con the other not. We now always get air-con if available and that far south.

I have only done tents in UK, suppose it depends on the tent, ventilation and shade available. We can't sit out in the sun (family of freckles & red hair amongst us). I also like having my own shower & loo if away more than 4 nights.

If you are sun lovers and can tolerate the heat then a tent will be a lot cheaper - especially if taking your own.

can't believe that eurocamp/keycamp/canvas can't come up with something that would fit the bill?

Hi missimac. I realise this thread was from last year but I've just done a talk search with "dordogne" in it as we're planning a camping trip in a few wks and were planning to go there! I just noticed your comment about campsite being completely dutch! Dh was only saying this last night, I wonder which campsite did you go to? And also have you found any luck working out how to get round this problem?
