I'm thinking about summer camping

We're moving house later year and it will be a massive change for all of us so DH & I are thinking we'd like to take the kids on a nice holiday to somewhere warm & sunny this year, in August.
We briefly toyed with the idea of a package deal 
but have decided to carry on camping as we all love it, and we've got all the gear. Last year we camped in Dorset - beautiful scenery and fab beaches but awful weather in August. The year before we went to the Vendee and loved it but it was really pricey.
So, does anyone have any suggestions for areas in Europe worth considering? We have two DC's, aged 5 & 8. We don't mind a drive, or a stop-over, but the shorter drive the better to be honest.
