So which one and where from?
I have juts seen the Vango Aspen at a hugely reduced price but still expensive. Anyone see any fabulous deal out there for a soon-to-be family of five?

Thank you so much

Colorado is fab and a piece of wee wee to put up!

MrsDoolittle · 29/09/2005 15:01

I know happymerryberries. It's supposed to be one of the best on the market and dh is really keen.
I still like the cute dome tents though.

ok camp-a-holics, where have you/do you intend to take these palatial abodes? (Wondering if I should try it? )

MrsDoolittle · 29/09/2005 15:18

Can't help you as we haven't started yet. But we are setting our sites on sites suggested by these lovely ladies.

I got the Nevada 5 from Argos (reduced in the sale to £79.99 too ) and what a great little tent for a family of four.

We went to the New Forest for a week, Battle for a couple of nights then Winchelsea, near Rye.

I love camping and can't wait to go and I'm going to organise a Mumsnet Camping Weekend Extravaganza next spring, so get organised girls!

SoupDragon · 29/09/2005 15:57

Can't see this thread without thinking "Now is the winter of our discount tents..."

KBear · 29/09/2005 15:58

LOL Soupy

Fennel · 29/09/2005 15:58

we have the Vango Diablo 400 which is officially for 4 people but we find it plenty big enough for our family of 5. 3 in one sleeping pod and 2 in the other, you can also sleep in the middle section.

one thing to think about is are you planning to go for lots of weekends, or just for whole weeks or more? we go quite a lot for a few days so didn't want something too huge to put up and down quickly.

MrsDoolittle · 29/09/2005 16:05

The Colorado is very like the Diablo Fennel, without the sewn in groundsheet in the living area, just the pods.

Love it, Soupdragon!!

we really like the sewn-in groundsheet in the living area. it's very cosy and warm. like being in an igloo. we can play at being Pingu's family You have the big porch section without a groundsheet anyway for cooking and mess.

ours was £150 ex demo I think they were £250 if brand new. the bigger ones (Diablo 600 and so on) are hardly more expensive - but we wanted put-up-quick-ability.

MrsDoolittle · 29/09/2005 16:29

All very sensible Fennel
Thanks Lynny but I think I would like the garantees that would go with a new tent for an extra £50. I can see a new one for £200!! I'm impressed.

Lucycat · 29/09/2005 17:52

Ah but we cheated Fennel and took our fan heater, having ehu makes it all so civilised!! We take our kettle for those early morning cuppas, and we are fair weather campers so hopefully the non sig will be ok in the future!!

SoupDragon · 29/09/2005 17:54

pmsl at "I can see us selling our five year old ..."

Lucycat · 29/09/2005 17:55

I've got one to sell as well

MrsDoolittle · 29/09/2005 18:00

So which is it to be?

The Vango Colorado 600DLX
OR
The Vango Diablo 600?

I'm going to order either tonight.
I've been fannying around for long enough!!

Mrs D have you decided? is the only real difference the fitted groundsheet for the living area? either tent would be nice.
