We are hoping to get away for just a few days and don?t want to travel too far or spend too much. We love camping and have never explored near by Oxfordshire and fancy giving it a go. Has anyone out there got any recommendations for a family friendly campsite in this area? - or any to avoid would be good to know as well!! Found an advert for Cotswold View campsite - anyone heard of it? Thanks in advance.

Try the International Scout Camp site at Youlbury, on Boars Hill. This is in a beautiful, semi-rural area, but only 4 miles from Oxford city centre. I don't know whether they take bookings from individuals, but they get lots of school groups and also groups of adults (ie not just scouts). The camp has a swimming pool, activity trail etc. Phone 01865 326264.

Hiya StripyMouse - Cotswold View - is that the one between Enstone and Charlbury? We stayed at that one a couple of times, and it was great - very clean toilets, all usual facilities, and so on. Some animals for kids to look at. Nice children's play area. Anything else you want to know?

We had pitch right by the play area, which had pros and cons. We went with a large group of friends, loads of kids, and they could just go to the swings by themselves, which was good. BUT at 10 pm the teenagers took over the swingpark, and were noisy til very late - which took its toll on us, as our kids get up at 6 am!

We went to the Cotswold View one earlier this year - this one

Its very nice. Good facilities - clean showers, washbasins in cubicles with mirrors, cubicles with baths in so dd got to have real baths and not just a dip in the washing-up tub! Lovely toddler play area with lots of ride-on toys. And you can go and have a fried breakfast in the farmhouse if you want!

Thanks guys - great info. I have stayed at scout campsites before and know they can be really lovely so will check out that idea Oldiemum if Cotswold View is fully booked, thanks. If not, will go with plan A thanks to Zerub and kmg1 - your feedback is great. Campsites can be so variable it is nice to have a couple of recommendations behind a place. (Those fried breakfasts in the farmhouse sound tempting.....)

I satyed at the cotswold water park years and years ago- (I was about 15, I'm now 32). It was very ggod then. Not Oxfordshire but pretty close. Easy to visit Blenheim and Oxford from there anyway.
