Tips for camping at Christchurch

I'm going to Christchurch in the Forest of Dean this weekend. Any tips on the best area to aim for? Will be pitching by myself with only 2 DSs (6&4) to help. [gulp] DH will arrive on Saturday, but I thought if we got there that late we might not find anywhere to pitch. Booked Fri-Mon at the moment, but may see if I can go Thursday night if they've got space.

Any hints or tips? My sister might come and help me set up if she can get out of work early, would I need to buy her a car pass?

Haven't been camping in a couple of years. Wish me luck!

I would try and pitch opposite the play area. Means your dcs can go and play with you watching and it isn't too far from the washing up place, toilets/showers or shop. It is also pretty level too (most of Christchurch is a bit sloping).

I was there last weekend and tried to book for this weekend but they were full Sad.

One car allowed per pitch so you would need to pay for an additional car.

Christchurch is lovely and probably my favourite campsite (not hugely experienced camper though!).

We've just returned from 3 days there and pitched near the exit - it was VERY noisy. There are some building works going on and there was excessive noise from 7am...I was a bit miffed that they hadn't mentioned this when we arrived, but couldn't be bothered to repitch the tent. I'd say head for the area to the left of the play area if you can. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks very much for that JP :) Sorry you didn't have such a good time.
