Right, we are going camping. DH has never been, I haven't camped since our tent nearly blew away at Wells-nex-the-Sea nearly 30 years ago. Mum and Dad bought a caravan after thatGrin

My ds's have the most experience as they have slept in my mum and dad's caravan and awning a few times.

So, we have the tent, it's been up and down in the back garden, lots of space inside. lovely. Now for what to take.

On the list is:

Tent
Mallet
Pegs
Sleeping Mats
Sleeping Bags
Camping Stove
Saucepans
Kettle
Cutlery/plates/mugs/glasses.
Foldy uppy table and chairs.
cool box
Can opener
Blankets
Pillows
Rain gear
Towels
Umbrella for cooking under.
Washing up bowl and cloth
Tea towels
Baby wipes/ cleaning wipes.
Chemical toilet that must be nearly 20 yrs old Only for night time wee's though and may not fit in car.
Loo Roll.
Head torches, lantern and windy uppy thing for emergencies.

Is that it? Obviously clothes and a few bits for the kids but I have no idea how we will fit everything in the car so can't take much more.

On the plus side we will only be about 8 miles from home so can come back for a nice shower the essentials we missedGrin

Thankyou to anyone who got to the end of that post and hasn't lost the will to live yet.

Picnic mat to use as rug inside tent

Pillows

Outdoor toys / balls

Playing cards/indoor games

Oh thankyou!

I have a picnic rug, I'll add that to the list. I'll take a ball for the ds's. My mum has given the ds's some travel games too. I suspect she has seized her opportunity to offload her crap onto us but the ds's may enjoy themHmm...My mum is responsible for the 20year old loo.

Nintendo's probably will goBlush

Bottle opener!!!

Also if you can would really recommend inflatable mattress' I know it's technically cheating but you will get so much more sleep. Not sure how old DC's are but those ready beds are good.

garbage bags and store bags
pegs
small dustpan and brush
paper towels
sharp small knife
food is not on your list?!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 24/08/2010 10:15

Thankyou so much for your help.

I think I need a bigger carGrin

I like the idea of sending the ds's to bed with the ds's. It might be the only way I get them into their bedsGrin

I have a bottle opener, thankyou for reminding me. Have added rubbish bags, paper towels and sharp knife to list. Dustpan and brush will come if we have room in the car. At this rate it may have to be balanced on one of the ds's heads!

Food will be mostly of the tinned variety, I fear. I will cook a stew and freeze some for us to have the day after we arrive. The next day we may starve or have a tin of somethingConfused

I haven't eaten tinned food since I left home 17 years ago but for our first trip I think it will just make life easier.

Were matches/lighter on that list? also don't forget the gas bottle.
some few cooking implements, spoon, spatula etc.
book to read
frisbee/football
tea/coffee/hot chocolate.

5 litre spring water bottle makes a good water carrier.
Washing up liquid (decant some into small bottle as luck will have it if you forget, there won't be any on the sink)

Few medicines, painkillers, safetypins, earplugs.

Emergency meals - my current favoured one is couscous, tomato sauce and frankfurters.

Don't forget to freeze your cold blocks!

Hotel...

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 24/08/2010 14:54

That'd be right...I'd remember the tins and forget the tin openerGrin

It's on the dining table alog with loads of othert stuff awaiting my moment of inspiration on how to pack it all.

I have updated my list, thanks again all.

LOL @ littleolwinedrinkerme. Come along, you know you want to. We have a big tent, I'm sure we could squeeze you in next to the chemical looWink
