Where's the best (cheapest) place to buy 2nd hand?

Some friends of ours have bravely said that they will come camping with us next summer for a week Grin.
There are 5 of them (3 young children) and they have never camped before so are a bit unwilling to fork out loads for a big tent and then hate it so I thought now might be a good time to search for a cheap large tent 2nd hand.. so is ebay our best option?
We're happy to share cooking facilities so all they'll have to bring extra will be clothes and sleeping bags..

We bought ours off ebay - just over 100 quid for about 400 quid's worth of tent (footprint, carpet, canopy etc etc extra) - well worth it and it's in good nick too... Loads of tents on ebay (especially after the summer where some will have bought it new and then decided camping wasn't for them).

There is another 2nd hand website, something like cabbage but not Hmm. I'll try and put my pregnant brain into gear and see if I can remember what it's really called.

I lurked for ages to get my billy bargain - missed out on a few by not very much, but sniper is a good tool for grabbing a bargain. My other method is to get those people who've got theirs ending at silly times (i.e. not Sunday 9pm). It's good fun! :o

Okay, not cabbage at all Blush Hmm, but www.preloved.co.uk also the ukcampsite website has 2nd hands from camping bods who normally sell decent stuff.

What did you say to your friends to convince them? I've been trying to convince ours to join us, but none have succombed (yet)

GUMTREE (now that is similar to cabbage Hmm )
