Not sure if this is the right place for this but... we are going to South Africa in a few weeks for a 3 month holiday. DH is southafrican so we will be visiting his family and our friends and touring around. We thought we would buy a campervan and resell it at the end of our holiday. Our Dcs are 15 months and nearly 3 so my main concern is their safety. We are planning taking their car seats with us but do campervans have anywhere to strap them in?? We are looking at the old autovilla style camper. Maybe they will fit in the front seats? DH thinks they can just be in the back without being strapped in Shock. Any tips from people with experience would be great.

they may have lapstraps -in whih case you need to make sure your seats can be fitted with just lapstraps

ours has four lap straps in the back - i like the children when they where little - to sit facing backwards - as I flet it was safer

Thanks Ivy! The carseat will be fine with lapstraps so I hope we can find one like yours. I fear the older ones won't have straps in the back. I would prefer them to sit backwards too.

My van is an old C reg one and had no belts in the back. I had a lap belt put in. Its quite a quick job to have a lapbelt installed as the fixing points should be there even if the seatbelts aren't. Cost me £30 for the belt and then £20 to have it fitted.
