Bugs, and midges and dead blardy bugs

I love camping

I do not like being eaten to death by midges

does the Avon stuff really work?

Also no-one told me about the dead bugs that would get mummified when I folded up the tent, and that every holiday we would get to relive the bugs of yesteryear with our selection of pressed and preserved bug corpses

How do you prevent this?

I have friends who swear by avon stuff... personally I can't stand the oily/greasy-ness of it, so I use regular midge stuff on face only - all other parts of my body are covered up, including attractive sandals-trousers-tucked-into-socks combo.

And re dead bugs - we have taken to shaking our tent up side down to empty it when we are packing up, mich more effective than sweeping, oh and also religously closing the fly net thingy, never leave it open.

HTH

I would need a team of acrobats to shake my huge tent upside down Grin

lol, our tent isn't that small....

this one

And we do get some funny looks when we do it.... probably best not to try it when it's windy Grin

The avon stuff does work ...a bit...but if you are like me and get bitten to shreds then i think you have to do a few things to get the little feckers
We like arnywear
Both of the kids wear a small one around their neck at bitey sites. I have a large one which i sometimes sit under in the evenings.
We also use mosi-coils sometimes

I haven't seen those before - really, a little arm thing can do that?

Last year in Glen Nevis we used the Avon stuff, Jungle Formula and citronella candles plus the jeans-in-socks combo but I still got bitten. I truly HATE midges.... Angry
