I need to talk about lunches and breakfasts

We are back from our camping holiday when lunches and breakfasts were a partial success

breakfasts involved eating a lot of croissants which were a) expensive b) crumbly c) fattening and d) had to be sourced every single damn day

lunches tended to be endless PB&J sandwiches except for dh who had to have ham found, again every single damn day

We are now going away for weekends and I wondered what do you do? Please tell me it is not the above, and that it is easier and less perishable

I totally agree, its a pain to have to go shopping all the time. We tend to have cereal in the morning (with soya milk, it keeps much better than cows milk and is yummy with muesli due to its slightly 'nutty' flavour) and yoghurt and fruit. Sometimes croissants or toast and jam/marmalade. Lunch is usually eaten out or we make up sandwiches - cream cheese, salad, tuna etc. We have a fairly crap cool bag but it does the job for a weekend and if you are on a campsite where you can re-freeze your freezer blocks we can make it through much longer without too much going off. The pancake idea is good (and totally agree about the Costco pancake mix although the bag is HUGE). DD would probably like french toast so that's one to try next time.

bread sticks, veg sticks and cream cheese or other dips?

Cappster · 16/08/2010 16:16

There are some fab ideas here thanks

though I am in awe of people who make pancakes. I can't be doing with a gas ring before I've had a lot of coffee in the morning

we survived this weekend on nutella sandwiches but only because dh wasn't with us Grin as he is the one with Standards Hmm

Thanks dreamingofsun I made the pancakes and they were a hit with everyone! They were so quick I will be able to make them for the children on school mornings. Thanks so much! Grin

no problem poppyboo. glad you enjoyed them

How easy was it to clean the pan?

frenchfancy · 22/08/2010 20:37

Breakfast is toast, we have a four slice folding toaster which makes better toast than my toaster.

Lunch is pasta and sauce, or bread and cheese, or canned beans and sausages.
