Hey

How many people is it for?

The EasyCamp was the first tent I liked - for the same reason, those beautiful spacious windows. However, looking deeper I found reviews said the stitching was shoddy, and also it's not very big (ideal if there's say 2 or 3 of you.)

The vista is a good deal but I'm not keen on vango myself.

The next tent I liked was the Corado 6 in Gooutdoors, similar to the easy camp. However if it's not on special (which it is at least twice a year) it's pricey. And weighs a lot.

Then thinking practically got me to the Kalahari (Gooutdoors). There's four of us (two adults and two kids) and we decided to go for the Kalahari for many reasons including the chance of a spot of 'adult time' as bedrooms are on opposite sides :o it's also very light and if you choose one side of bedrooms can be taken down to make bigger living space. We got ours on special for £199, it's not atm but the 10berth is on 249. We'd have got the 10 but we have already bought the 8, and cosy will be fine :D

jujuthejetmum · 08/08/2010 16:40

It's for 2 adults and 2 dc - ds (8) dd (5) :)

'adult time' lol - if we went for the 8 or 10 berth would you have to book a bigger pitch?

We have 2 adults and 2 dc and we have a vango icarus, similar size to the vista and id go for the vangoover the easycamp - have you looked at the icarus though (go outdoors stock it) as we have just added the canopy to ours and its fab now with extra space to sit outdoors but sheltered when its peeing down.

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 08/08/2010 16:52

sorry just realised vista is an 8 berth Blush. do you really need one that big just for weekends thugh?

CoffeeMad · 08/08/2010 16:54

Second that NZLCF, we also have an Icarus (weekender 500 package) and it is very spacious, well made and pitches v.quickly.

jujuthejetmum · 08/08/2010 17:01

Yes I like the Icarus especially with the canopy. I liked the canopy with the Boston 600. Think I've changed my mind now on both my choices so no rush to get to go outdoors today before the price goes back down on the vista. Hmm

lunavix - thinking 10 berth would be much too big but sounds like a good offer, we didn't look at Hi-Gear tents when we were shopping round so don't know much about them. Will have to start a new short list.

sorry crossed post - just went for the vista because of the offer even tho' 8 berth - it was £130 until today

Is this a good deal and reputable company? www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk/acatalog/vango_icarus500-premium-package.html#a5032307626700

Very reputable :)

Tents like the icarus are up and down easy, good for weekend trips :)

THe Easycamp will be like my kalahari - they take somewhat longer (perhaps 30min - 40 min when practiced) which I'm happy with as I like space.

Also look at the quechua pop up 4 man, has good reviews :)

jujuthejetmum · 08/08/2010 17:57

Thanks thats really helpful cos I'm still trying to convince DH it will be a good idea to get away for a bit but don't want it to be stressful putting up the tent so sounds good x

quick and easy is essential to a reluctant camper andif you can do it yourself and besmug all the better Smile

CoffeeMad · 08/08/2010 18:11

That is a really good deal. The best I could find for you was this, but it is only for the tent and canopy and is sold out.

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 08/08/2010 18:19

i would probably go with coffee mads deal as it has sewn in sig anyway so do you really need a carpet? and a footprint surely wouldnt be more than £50 though we dont use one anyway.

mungo8 · 08/08/2010 22:16

We have the Icarus 500 have found it a fab tent. We also have a canopy for it with a door it gives us lots of extra room, although we have found the canopy a bit of a faff and almost impossible to use in strong wind. The tent has held up in all weathers that camping throws at you. We are also a family of 4 and manage just fine although if Vango had done the Icarus 600 last year we probably would have gone for that a little extra room is always an advantage. Happy camping

jujuthejetmum · 09/08/2010 07:53

Great thanks. Hoping we'll get some more nice weather x
