Anyone use a day tent whilst camping?

We have used a gazebo to date, a proper sturdy one with cotton walls and roof (so not that nasty Chinese laundry bag woven plastic stuff!) and guyropes to anchor it BUT it takes up SO much car space AND it's not waterproof so we have to bungee a couple of tarps over the roof in the rain so this year I am thinking day tent. We put up a table and chairs in it and sort of stand in it whilst cooking on the stove set up just clear of it, outside

Any recommendations? It needs to be a place we can shelter from the wind and rain so no mesh sides only.

this sort of thing?

We bought this to use for that purpose next time we go camping. Like you, we'll still be cooking outside, but it would give us somewhere to store the kitchen stuff and that can be properly closed when if it does rain.

we've got a royal summerhouse

we bought it as we usually go away with family, normally 12-20 of us at once and it always rains! it's good to have somewhere that acts as a living room in the day

we have cooking stuff and tables and chairs set up in there

Wow, never knew there were such things as day tents! Might get ourselves one as we use a Bell tent for camping and use the trailer from an old trailer tent, but we still have the detachable kitchen/cooker unit.
Always a pain trying to cook in the rain with an umbrella.
