Looking at this site for a week's holiday next summer with a day trip (or two) to Disneyland Paris. Seems to get good reviews everywhere.

Ideally I'd like a site in a nice area where we can go for a walk into the nearest town and experience a bit of the local culture.

Is this the sort of place?

not been there but when we went to DLP the last time we stayed here which was lovely. You would have to drive into the local towns but the surrounding area is beautiful and I'd like to go back without the site just being used as a base for DLP.

Leslaki, that looks ideal, but we have 5 kids and they only have 2-bed mobile homes there. Pity!

We stayed there last year and PILs have stayed there a couple of times in the last couple of years. It is a big site with good facilities. It is popular with the British but does retain a French air. The pool area has been developed since last year.

The town is within walking distance and has a few shops & cafes.

All in all it was a large but pleasantly low key site when we were there last August.

We took the coach trip into Paris and this cost us around €120 for the five of us. Going into Paris was definitely worth taking the coach but I dont know if the same applies for Disneyland Paris.

Oh and DH has just reminded me - you need to book the coach trips early as they do sell out!

Thanks Suzie. Just read a review about the river ponging sometimes. What do you think?!

We cerainly didnt notice it. The river is right on one edge of the campsite. As I recall most of the mobile homes are quite a long way from it on the other side of the lakes.

Who are you planning to go with? We have been with Eurocamp and Canvas. PILs have been with Canvas. On the whole I think that Canvas have the best accomodation on the site. We certainly werent disappointed last year with a huge pitch.

Ceolas · 29/07/2010 15:02

Yeah we were thinking Canvas. Nice 3 bed with a deck

We haven't been yet but we are going in September. Booked with Siblu using our Tesco Vouchers (£55 vouchers = £220 off the holiday. Our friends went last year and had a great time, they also recommended Pierrefonds Chateau for a day out (this is where the BBC series 'Merlin' is filmed). The site gets good reviews on tripadvisor - 4.5 out of 5 from 122 reviews.

have been there recently and we loved it. we took our own caravan though, but being nosey we checked out the mobile homes and they looked fab. the site itself is huge but spacious, didn't feel like you were hemmed in at all. facilities are fab and the big bonus is thats its a 2 1/2 hour drive from the port! go for it, its great .
