Help me with my list of things to take....
dh says don't bring food but we'll spend a fortune if we don't....
Anyone who's been before?

I'm going and can't wait!!!! Went last year and guess it depends on your budget but the average adult fish and chips meal was about £6 each so we mainly cooked our own. Also if you are a wine drinker (hey it just helps to get offto sleep in a tent full of snoring kids!) then I would suggest bring your own too as it does add up if you are always buying glasses from the bars.
I've got 2 dd's so bringing lots of cheap glittery dressing up stuff and glo-sticks rather than getting 'bullied' into buying things from the stalls ... Wet wipes and antiseptic handwash in a bumbag for the loos a must too!

Thanks! Appreciate that!

we're going and went last year too! Can't wait! I second the taking wine thing! We took food, and although in a cooler it of course didnt last beyond about 24 hours. but tea bags, milk, bread, cheese, crisps we shall be taking again! plus gerry can for water, washing up bowl, liquid etc etc...I could go on! Cant believe it is finally coming around again!

Yes, no glass bottles as far as I remember but we weren't camping. We did see people leave everyday so you can have access to the local surrounds and shops.

All the signs are out and there are a few vehicles in the park, they are cutting the grass but the jousting starts on Sunday.

ooooh so are we! My son's nut allergic so you'll spot my carrying tons of food for him! ;D Still doing my sun-dance ... thanks for the wine tip - might save weight and go for brandy ...

Hi I'm going with DD she's 7. We've been last 3 years running - ITS FABULOUS! DH can be a bit of a bore so this year I'm going it alone, just us girls.
Main tips definitely take as much food as you can, food is total rip off (£5 for burger!!!)
Also take more cash than you'll think you need you will need it
Have you booked the boutique babysitting? check out the link on the Bestival page. Then you & DH can have a groove without DC in tow for a bit (they do 4 hour slots)
Take face paints/tons of make up and lots of fancy dress - that's what its all about.HAVE FUN might see you there, look out for a mad lone mummy!

Also at most festivals I take boxes of organic wine/cider to get around the glass problem. There are some decent ones out there now. Also there are the cans of gin & tonics and Pimms & lemonade, I took them to Wychwood and kept them in coolbag with ice blocks. It was great didn't need to pay stupid money for a tame rip off cocktail.

Anyone else going it alone? Everyone I know is going with DH and seem to think I'm bonkers going with only my daughter. Are there any proper partiers in mumsnet maybe? You all seem like the kind of women who don't need to be propped up by DH! I'm not super mum its just that my DH is easily bored so gets grumpy and my DS is 13 so really doesn't want to hang out with his mum at any festival - normal!
not asking to spend weekend together! but might be nice to meet up for a drink & dance?
