We're off to France in the morning for a month (sorry slubber ), the car, roofbox and trailer are all packed with all the stuff on 'my list

So why do we have so much room left in the car? why does the roofbox shut so easily (and first time?) and the trailer cover is flat?

What might we have forgotten? or are we just better at packing and are taking much less stuff than least year?

oooh all giddy now

Are the kids in?

Fennel · 21/07/2010 11:10

have you got the tent?

Lucycat · 21/07/2010 11:12

Kids are still at school but they acually have legroom in the car! tent is in the trailer - have you seen the size of it overnight tent is in the back of the car.

Towels, sleeping bags, floor mat things, cooking stuff, clothes.
Don't need anything else really do you?

Oh, most important when camping with children, booze.

SanctiMoanyArse · 21/07/2010 12:53

Well if you'd like a couple of relatives to squeeze in I can loand oyu a few due to come with us on Saturday LOL (We're taking teh SMART car as well but it still means seven in my Spacewagon)

And LOL at roofbox and trailer woman! We have the carrier on the back, seven and virtually no boot and will still be OK (though should nephew arrive with lots of clothes I will dive for cover and let dh deal after The Incident)

Lucycat · 21/07/2010 12:58

The roofbox does have lots of dh's fishing stuff in it

Nope think we have it all - wine will be bought tomorrow night en France!

and thanks for the offer of the rellys sancty...but no I'd rather have lunch with a Gruffalo!

But Luce they are so generous- why they even contribute £20 towards the whole holiday including food, acomodation, petrol, admissions (we're taking the nephew but not his parents)

Sure I can't tempt you?

have fun! Despite basic grievances am looking forwards to our week away.

iheartdusty · 21/07/2010 16:25

if I understand aright you are taking two tents?!

even more admirable to have leg room as well.

I once sent DS off for a week to stay with GPs with no clothes. I meant to put them in, honestly..they had to do an urgent dash to the charity shop with him in just the pyjamas he arrived in.

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 21/07/2010 16:47

bloody hell we have a pile of camping stuff awaiting loading tonight and i am looking at ours thiking no fecking chance of ever gettign that in the boot! Dh is saying no to pillows .

Lucycat · 21/07/2010 17:24

Yep - twotents!

A Vango 500 for overnights and Lakey

Despite my chucking the last extras in we have loads of room still.

there must be something vital that we've forgotten..this is unheard of.

sancty - you'll have a fab time I'm sure

Have you definitely got the poles for the tent?

Have a great time. You are very lucky being able to go for a month.

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2010 18:09

Where are you going?

We are off to France for 3 weeks on Monday!

Fennel · 21/07/2010 18:11

We are going to France for 3 weeks camping next Thursday. We are going to squeeze in: one tent, 3 children, 1 kayak, 2 windsurfers, 1 rubber dinghy and oars, 5 bikes, plus all the camping equipment. We did this last year but the girls have got bigger and so have their bikes. I doubt there'll be wiggle room.

Slubberdegullion · 21/07/2010 18:18

pillows?

pillows take up shed loads of room.

Have a lovely time Lucy.

Batteryhuman · 21/07/2010 19:46

have a good trip and looking froward to meeting you ther in 2 weeks.

Corkscrew, huge pile of novels....

Better to have space on the way out though, rember how it will have expanded when you pack up to come back

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 21/07/2010 20:29

Lucycat do you have pillows? Slubber i thought pillows were a must ?

mzmum · 21/07/2010 21:06

Wow, can't believe you're off - as knowing you'll be at the same campsite as me in a few weeks time has sent me off in to a panic!!! Have a great trip, see you there!!!

Lucycat · 21/07/2010 21:36

Pillows are in a fab JML vacuum type bag
