We've just got back from the Forest Holidays site in Beddgelert, and I have to share how nice it was...
I was a bit worried before I went as there were a couple of dodgy reviews online, but my experience with them was great.
The site was beautiful, in the middle of a forest (unsuprisingly). The staff were really friendly and helpful, and gave us advice on the best place to pitch our tent. We decided to pitch on the village green, which was right next to the children's play area and quite close to the toilets etc. This suited us as it meant that we could watch the children play from our tent with a good book and a gin and tonic. If we had wanted somewhere away from families there were plenty of quieter areas.
The facilities were clean, there was plenty of hot water for washing up, showers etc. The shop was fairly basic, but you could order fresh bread there, and there was also take away pizzas and a coffee bar.
The children had a great time, as well as the playground there was a whole forest to explore (in wellies and waterproofs at times!) and the local steam train even runs through the site.
We left reasonably early this morning (having been there since Friday afternoon) as the weather had turned vile, but that was the only downside (and to be honest you expect rain in Wales!)
I would definitely recommend the site. Beddgelert itself is lovely too, and is the home to the Gelert camping brand (and a discount warehouse where I spent far too much money!).
Right, time to dry the tent out...
