We are going camping only for the night this weekend but weather doesnt look like its going to be very good.

What can we do with young children?

Get some decent waterproofs and wellies and just go out, walking on the beach is fun for kids whatever the weather.
If you are only there for one night you can dry your stuff when you get home.
Just go for it and have fun.

You can go there or back via the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth - that's quite fun with kids even if it's damp.

And you can go on the teeny teeny train across the estuary and back.

walk the barmouth ridge in your waterproofs

visit Dyffryn Ardudwy near Barmouth and walk up the Ysgethin
It is the most beautiful fast flowing river with little waterfalls ....
To find it drive to the village. You will see an old red phonebox next to a little bridge and some public toliets. This is the start of the wark. Carry on as far as you want to. It makes me teary thinking about it. I'm feeling soppy tonight I think! it truely is beautiful and the sounds of the water/pretty/relaxing. Lots of wildlife too.

I spent many summer holidays in Dyffryn Ardudwy/Barmouth growing up and this would be my favourite walk, beautiful memories. The canopy of trees will keep you dry too.
