Can anybody recommend an electric coolbox that stays on all the time?

Just borrowed an electric coolbox from my dad but he says it just comes on for bursts at a time-what use is that????

So how can you tell which ones stay on all the time and has anybody got a good one???

Is the most important thing not how well it keeps the food cold? It might do that by just coming on for bursts at a time.

Do you have a leisure battery for it? If not it'll drain your car battery very quickly.

We've got one, but it's too cold, the food is always nearly frozen.

Wanted one to plug in to electric hook up.We tried out the Campingaz one he lent us but it wasn't cold at all.

Interesting point,maybe they don't need to be on all the time just better than the one we've borrowed.

Often they just say they'll cool to 18 deg C below the ambient temp (outside temp). Our outwell one was pretty good, I still froze a lot of stuff before we went so there was no chance of it getting too warm. This one is the one we used before selling it to fund our caravan.

We've got a Campinggaz one. You do have to make sure that you put already chilled stuff in it. It won't, or takes a long time to, bring down the temperature of room-temperature food.

Just wanted to say something about the gas fridges.

Was at a camp site a couple of weeks ago, the paramendics had to be called out as a couple had collapsed in their tent due to noxious fumes, luckily he was able to alert friends (in another tent) that something was wrong before he collapsed.

If you have a gas fridge, please dont; have it in your tent.
