For your good vibes this weekend. Despite the weather forecasting man's best efforts, my first camping experience in 30 years went brilliantly!

The weather was bright and blustery, we put the tent up easily, the kids had a fantastic time and I didn't forget anything.

More importantly, a fellow camper came up to me yesterday and said how impressed he was with the efficient way we had packed and taken down the tent "you are obviously seasoned professionals". He didn't believe me when I said it was my first time.

I was ridiculously pleased with myself and slightly emotional.

I am hooked!!!

I was concerned some canpoys are 2010 unlike my 2009 tent which im sure is laurel/ sage but my new thingy is laurel/ meadow. If it doesnt proper match i will send it back. I looked at that hi gear one as reduced atm - how long is it?

We go to the IOW in a house for a week next week and am sticking tent in boot to break up journey on way home (live in teeside) so not sure we would get the windbreak in as dh is making us go in his poncey car and the boots not like a hatchback. Dotn know whether to stay in new forest which isnt really breaking journey up much or to hike it up to cotswold area or lincolnshire or i suppose we could do all 3 but in august im not sure we would get 2 night bookings. I have earmakrked 3 sites. Dh isnt a camper - he goes under prrotest so i think if we did 3 nights it would break him in proper

When/ where you off to next?

Hi gear one is quite long - it has guy ropes which threw me a bit.

We are off to Anglesey mid-Aug, but I'm hoping to do a sneaky couple of nights somewhere fairly local with friends the week before.

My DH isn't a camper either - to the extent that he has no intention of ever coming with us! That just makes me more determined to do it - but luckily I have lots of like-minded friends who will indulge me.

MN does seem to break the stereotypes of men grrring over campfires and canvas - its the women who seem to be the enthusiasts on these threads!

I had to take a borken pop up back today (i have a thread about it) anyway i got the high gear one and could not beleive it came in a tiny bag - fantastic! The man sadi he only had blue and he and dh rolled there eyes when i said i needed green to match my tent so he went of to the warehouse and hey presto! I also got some yellow power pegs i have no idea what to do with as had no instructions. God i love camp shops!

I saw your thread, I would have had no hesitation in taking it back - you did right !
